What is Sublimation?

Sublimation offers full-color printing capabilities at an affordable start-up cost. All you need to bring is a sublimation printer, sublimation inks, sublimation paper, and a heat press. The technology is well-developed, and there is a vast support network of suppliers and users to help when questions arise.

Sublimation uses CMYK printing, giving you the ability to reproduce high-quality graphics and photographs. There are thousands of blank sublimation items available, including drinkware, apparel, photo-receptive, and exteriorsignage panels. The process of sublimation fuses the printed graphic to the blank item, making the finished transfer very durable and able to withstand hundreds (in some cases thousands) of washes without fading.

Why Sublimation?

Sublimation printing uses heat to print the design on the fabric. First, the design is print on a special dye-transfer paper with sublimation ink. Then the transfer paper is laid into a heat press with the material and subjected to high-temperature ranging from 350 to 400° Fahrenheit. It allows the ink to move into the gaseous state and permeate with the fibers of the textile and solidify.

The print achieved is permanent and less prone to fading.  Because the ink is embedded in the fabric rather than lying on the top, like in standard printing. It is a quick, effective, and permanent digital print method growing in popularity with various sublimation printing companies coming up.

SUBLIMATION DIFFERENCE

Dye sublimation doesn't create the additional waste that other methods of printing do

The dye in the dye sublimation process becomes part of the fabric, it's more comfortable.

Results in printing has photo quality and no loss of image clarity or resolution

Perfect technique, quick easy, accessible and affordable, but it is also environmentally friendly

Work for even the most intricate shapes, allowing you to print the entire fabric of a garment.

No liquid ink means no spills and no clean up. So No Mess in the environment

Requires no water and very little energy resources compared to other commercial printing methods.

Great for one-off or small batch orders, making it easy to quickly customize apparel or gifts.

FAQ

Are the prints durable?

Yes! During the sublimation process, the dyes in the inks become chemically bonded with the polyester fibers of the fabric, making a print that can't be scratched, scraped or washed from the fabric.

Do the shirts have to be 100% polyester?

Shirts for sublimation need to be at the very least, 50% polyester.  The higher percentage of polyester the better as the ink will only transfer to the poly fibers.

What is the resolution of the prints?

We have invested in modern, state-of-the-art equipment capable of printing at more than 1400 dots-per-inch (DPI).

Are the fabric prints fire-retardant?

Yes, we print on fabrics that are tested and certified to be flame resistant.

Can you design it for me?

Yes, we offer graphic design services for free if needed.

Can I sublimate onto 100% cotton fabric?

Short answer: no. It is not possible to sublimate onto cotton fabrics at all.
